India's baby diaper market stood at roughly INR 125.4 billion in 2025, up from INR 78.2 billion in 2020, and is projected to reach INR 224.7 billion by 2030. What stands out is the pace: growth is expected to quicken from a CAGR of 9.9% in 2020–25 to 12.4% in 2025–30P, a rare case of an already-large base accelerating rather than slowing down.

Baby diapers remain the anchor of India's broader consumer hygiene market (which also covers feminine hygiene, adult incontinence and wet wipes). That combined market was worth INR 146.7 billion in 2020 and INR 240.6 billion in 2025, headed to INR 438.4 billion by 2030P. Baby diapers alone have consistently made up more than half of this market, though their share is easing slightly, from 53.3% in 2020 to an estimated 51.3% by 2030P, as adult incontinence products grow faster off a smaller base.

Within baby diapers, format matters. Pant-style diapers, favoured for convenience with active toddlers, have grown from 78% of the market in 2020 to roughly 80% in 2025 and are expected to reach 81% by 2030P, at the cost of tape-style formats. This shift is echoed across leading brands, most of whom have added pant-style lines to their portfolios in recent years.

India's underlying demand drivers are structural rather than cyclical. The country adds around 25 million newborns a year, one of the highest counts globally, and parents are starting diaper use earlier and continuing it longer as affordability and hygiene awareness improve. On trade, India's diaper exports grew at a CAGR of 33.5% between 2020 and 2024, far outpacing import growth of 7.3% over the same period, pointing to India's rising competitiveness as a manufacturing base rather than merely a consumption market.

On the manufacturing side, Swara Baby Products Ltd was, per the TKC Report, the largest contract manufacturer of baby diapers in India by revenue in Fiscal 2025, holding an estimated 37% share by value and growing 21.9% year-on-year into Fiscal 2026, reflecting continued consolidation of demand toward organised contract manufacturers.
